An All-American Champion
Today is the 4th of July. Canada had their fun a few days ago, so now it’s our turn. When it comes to today, we like to think of all the American things: baseball, apple pie, and hot dogs. There are a few baseball stories swirling around, but I’ll save those for later. Right now, it’s all about the hot dogs. Also, in a little bit of a change up from the norm (see what I did there?) I’m gonna bring in a special guest for this blog. Nathan’s contributor and my good friend, Jon Nielsen. We’ll be tag-teaming this go-round.
We’re Talking About Playoffs!
It’s been clamored for for years, it’s been talked about for months, and it’s been planned for weeks. Now, it’s officially official. The BCS as we know it will cease to exist. For the first time ever, we’re gonna have a playoff in major college football.
It’s About Damn Time
LeBron James couldn’t have said it better himself. He became the 10th man to win NBA MVP and Finals MVP in the same season, the 8th to win 3 MVP awards and a title, and the 7th to claim two triple-doubles in the NBA Finals. All of that punctuated by one thing: King James earned his crown.
Now the Fun Begins…
Tonight is the beginning of the series that NBA fans have been waiting for: Miami plays Game 1 of the NBA Finals against Oklahoma City.
A Hollywood Ending
As Jim Brown once said in Any Given Sunday: We hit, we win. We attack, we win. We pressure, we win, in all things. Tonight, the Kings did just that, and they won their first ever Stanley Cup.
Round One in the Books
Today wrapped up the first round of EURO matches, and as I felt some time ago, this tournament is wide open. You do have your favorites in teams like Germany and Holland, and you have your dark horse in France. However, with the way the past eight matches finished, anything can happen.
Deuces Wild
In the two playoffs that are still going right now, there’s only one team that hasn’t won two games, and if they lose tonight, they could very well be runners-up for only the second time in their history. With the other three teams, anything goes.
It’s About Time…
It took about 30 years for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to get their first kickoff return for a touchdown. Now, about a decade later, the last hollowed stat is finally gone. Yes, the New York Mets finally have a no-hitter of their own.
